Lesley Wood

Lesley has over 20 years’ experience of working with secondary school children from across the County Durham area, within a variety of settings including mainstream, SEBD (Social and Emotional Behavioural Difficulties) and SEMH (Social and Emotional Mental Health) alternative provision schools.

Lesley took up her current post as Deputy Head of School in October 2017, leading a growing pastoral team, responsible for Behaviour, Attendance, Safeguarding and Mental Health and Wellbeing of staff and students.

With a particular passion for students with complex needs and ensuring that all young people feel valued and respected, Lesley would like to see all young people have access to a safe, nurturing, and positive environment in which they can learn, achieve, and grow as individuals and move towards young adulthood.

As a parent herself to two girls aged 22 and 7, local to the area for the majority of her life, Lesley has good knowledge of the issues often faced by students and their parents/carers. She believes that positive relationships between home and school play an active part in a child’s educational success and that by working collaboratively with the same goal, together, achieve great things for the young people of Easington Academy.
